The 50-50 is a fundamental grind trick that involves sliding both trucks of your skateboard along a rail or ledge. It’s a great trick for beginners and a stepping stone to more advanced grinds. Here’s how to nail the 50-50:
Foot Positioning: Position your feet with your back foot on the tail and your front foot near the middle of the board, ready for balance.
Approach: Roll towards the rail or ledge at a comfortable speed. Keep your knees bent and your body relaxed for better control.
Ollie onto the Obstacle: As you get close, perform an ollie to lift your board onto the rail or ledge. Aim to land with both trucks on the obstacle.
Lock in the Grind: As you land, shift your weight slightly forward to lock your trucks onto the rail or ledge. This helps maintain balance during the grind.
Stay Low and Balanced: Keep your knees bent and your body low to help stabilize yourself. Look down the obstacle to spot your exit.
Exit the Grind: As you approach the end of the rail or ledge, prepare to dismount. Shift your weight back and perform a slight ollie to roll off the obstacle, landing with your knees bent to absorb the impact.
