The dolphin heel is an eye-catching trick that combines a heelflip with a 180 shove-it, creating a smooth and stylish motion. It’s a great way to add variety to your trick repertoire. Here’s how to master it:
Foot Positioning: Start rolling at a comfortable speed. Place your back foot on the tail, just like you would for a shove-it, and position your front foot angled across the board, with the ball of your foot near the edge.
Crouch Down: Bend your knees to prepare for the jump. Keep your weight centered over the board to maintain balance throughout the trick.
Pop and Scoop: As you jump, pop the tail of the board down with your back foot while scooping it in the direction you want it to spin. This initiates the 180-degree rotation.
Drag and Flick: As the board starts to rise, drag your front foot up towards the nose. Instead of flicking with your toes like a kickflip, use your heel to flick off the side. This will cause the board to flip while it’s spinning.
Watch the Board: Keep your eyes on the board as it flips and rotates. This helps you time your landing and maintain focus.
Land and Roll Away: As the board completes its flip and rotation, prepare to catch it with your feet. Land with your knees bent to absorb the impact, aiming to land over the bolts for stability.
